Leslie Mabon

Dr Leslie Mabon is a Lecturer in Environmental Systems at the School of Engineering and Innovation at The Open University, and is especially interested in using an applied environmental ethics and philosophy lens to understand some of the more contentious or complex responses to climate change and sustainability. Recent and ongoing work includes understanding strategies for a just transition for workers and communities reliant on fossil fuel extraction; evaluating justice issues associated with the development of nature-based approaches in cities for climate change adaptation; and assessing different concerns and knowledge systems around marine environmental pollution issues. As well as working extensively in Scotland, Leslie has a particular research interest in east- and south-east Asia, especially Japan, Taiwan and Vietnam, where he has formed long-term research collaborations.
